The Home and Community Care (HACC) Emergency Response Service has organised for South West Support to act as contacts for MEPACS clients in the region who do not have family, friends or neighbours nearby who could respond when they need emergency assistance.

MEPACS is a 24 hour a day personal emergency alarm service that responds to calls for assistance.  The service  enhances the confidence of older people and those with disabilities to live independently in their own home. People who use the service simply 'buzz in' every morning by pressing the button on their personal alarm, to confirm their well-being. Similarly, clients simply press the button on their pendant or personal alarm to summon help in event of an emergency.

When help is called for, MEPACS will alert South West Support to come to the assistance of the MEPACS customer and a nominated person will visit promptly to check on their well-being and render further assistance if required.

Who is eligible?

People are assessed by HACC and organise this assessment through their doctor or Home and Community Care Officer.
